Senapati, 22 July: A brief farewell program for outgoing Chief Secretary Prashant Kumar Singh, in the presence of Senapati DC Mamoni Doley, organized by the Senapati District Truck Owners’ Association, Senapati District Truck Drivers’ Union, village leaders, and well-wishers, was held at Martyr’s Park, Mao Gate along NH-2 Imphal-Dimapur road on Tuesday afternoon.

The outgoing Chief Secretary, now designated Secretary of the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes, Government of India, expressed his happiness at such a gesture from different associations and the Mao community. The former Chief Secretary was received at Zero Point of the Mao-Kedima-Chakhabama-Kohima alternative road, a route he had initiated for immediate repairs through PWD since June.
In his short speech, the outgoing Chief Secretary mentioned the necessity of a permanent alternative route to the existing two-lane NH-39 to bypass traffic congestion in Kohima town. Further, he shared the necessary steps taken up by the Government of Manipur for the improvement of the present alternative road, which is serving as the lifeline of Manipur State. He also informed that the Manipur Government has been working for the last two months, besides writing a letter to the Ministry of Road for funds to permanently create a lifeline route.
