The outgoing Chief Secretary, now designated Secretary of the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes, Government of India, expressed his happiness at such a gesture from different associations and the Mao community. The former Chief Secretary was received at Zero Point of the Mao-Kedima-Chakhabama-Kohima alternative road, a route he had initiated for immediate repairs through PWD since June.

In his short speech, the outgoing Chief Secretary mentioned the necessity of a permanent alternative route to the existing two-lane NH-39 to bypass traffic congestion in Kohima town.
