In view of positive cases being on the rise over the past few days despite utmost precautionary measures being taken up within the district, District Magistrate, Senapati district today declared the town areas of Senapati under containment zone with effect from May 14 afternoon.
As per findings of the medical department and observing the trend of positive persons being detected from persons within the market area and other locations of the district even when such person has not travelled out of the district, it has become extremely difficult to do contact tracing of all possible contacts of the positive persons as it includes some of the most crowded areas of the district.
District Task Force chaired by Mahesh Chaudhari, IAS, District Magistrate, Senapati held an emergency meeting on May 12, 2021 where members of the Task Force including the Police department and health department felt that for effective contact tracing and thereby breaking the chain of spread of Covid-19 has become inevitable.
In this connection, Mahesh Chaudhari, IAS, District Magistrate, Senapati in exercise of the powers conferred under Para 12 of the Manipur Epidemic Diseases (Enforcement of Covid-19 Guidelines) Regulations, 2020 had declared the areas of Senapati headquarter, Maram bazaar area, Tadubi town and Mao town area as containment zone which would come to effect from 3 pm of May 14, 2021 for 8 consecutive days till 24 hours of May 22, 2021 or until further orders whichever is earlier.
The containment zone at Senapati Headquarters consists of Tusii Ngaonii Khumai (TNK) in the east, Kathikho Karong in the north, Taphou Naga and Katomei in the west and Taphou Liangmai in the south; Maram town area of Maram bazaar, Tadubi town area of Tadubi and Mao town area of Mao. Under the declaration of the order within the areas, containment measures including sealing of the geographical area, restriction on entry and exit of population within the containment zone, initiating active surveillance of Covid-19 cases and banning of public gathering of any type is reported to initiate during the enforcement.
However, following activities will be exempted from the purview of the containment including vehicles carrying essential commodities, oxygen supply related vehicles, LPG and oil tankers, vehicles of essential services like power supply, fire service, water supply, waste and garbage collection, PDS, telecom, electronic and print media, airport duties and vehicles of other Govt departments, works of both state and national projects carried out within the district, home delivery of essential commodities (including supplementary nutrition for children, pregnant and lactating mothers, food items, vegetables, groceries, fish/animal feeds and milk products, medical institutions including pharmacies, people going for vaccination, Covid-19 testing & those of Child Protection Services, health care workers & frontline workers from various departments carrying out Covid-19 related duties as assigned by the magistrate, banking services with limited staffs from 10 am to 2:30 pm, ATM services and vehicle repairing workshops along the NH-2.
