Shillong: Major commercial hubs in Shillong wore a deserted look with almost all shops and big business establishments remaining closed today as a mark to show solidarity with the victims of the recent Pahalgam terror attack that killed over 26 people in Jammu and Kashmir.

Except for pharmacies, shops in Iewduh, one of the biggest traditional markets in the region, and Khyndailad were seen remaining closed.

Similar is the case in Laitumkhrah and Polo commercial areas in the state’s capital.

The shutting down of commercial areas was called by the Shillong Citizens’ Forum (SCF) and Barabazar Merchants and Traders, which also observed a candlelight vigil on Sunday to demand justice for the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack.
