ShiRock 2022: War of bands begins

Ukhrul: ShiRock band competition has always attracted a lot of bands and artists from all over the country to compete in it. With a cash prize of ₹10 lakhs set for the first prize, ₹5 lakhs for the second prize, ₹2.5 lakhs for the third, along with ₹25,000 with individual prizes, organised by ShiRock, 16 bands will go head to head this year. Auditions for ShiRock 2022 were held in four cities–Delhi, Assam, Guwahati and Imphal in the early part of May for the Northeeast renowned rock-band competition. 

Tangkhul Music Forum, a mix of local bands and artists, Sochipem Kasomhung, Mac and the band opened the show with their blastoff, energetic performance, setting the stage ready for the evening. 

Eight bands competed on the second night of ShiRock 2022. Variation 4, a band from Manipur were the first to set the stage rocking. It was followed by equally amazing, sensational performances by N2BM from Nagaland, Symphonic Illusions from Meghalaya, Pantocrator from Meghalaya, GMP the band, from Manipur, Not Funny from Manipur, Chasing Proxima from Manipur and lastly, the final act for the night was The Prophets from Mizoram.

All the bands gave their all and kept the audience totally hooked with their stellar stage presence and performance, not failing to give a memorable, spectacular rocking night. The second night of ShiRock yet again attracted a lot of audiences both at the Bakshi Ground, Ukhrul and viewers online from across Northeast India and beyond. 

Laishram Momocha, veteran drummer of rock band Cannibals Narayan Shrouthy, bass player for Inner Sanctuary, and Biswajit Tongbram, former vocalist of Recycle, composer of “Incredible Manipur,” the theme song of Sangai Festival 2011 and Power of 18, Election song 2022 will be the judges for the competition.
