CHANDEL: The Annual Freshers’ Meet and Felicitation 2026 of South East Manipur College (SEMCO), Komlathabi, Chandel district, was held under the theme “New Vibes, New Bonds, New Beginnings”, welcoming the newly admitted students of the 2026–27 academic session.
The programme, organised with the participation of students and faculty members, aimed at introducing the freshers to campus life and fostering a sense of camaraderie among students.

The event was hosted by Bongte Kastina Aimol, Magazine secretary, and Khulpu Christopher Maring, Debate and Extension secretary. The programme commenced with a prayer by Mayrose Ngoruh, Assistant Professor, Department of Political Science, followed by a welcome address delivered by Katrimsha Borish Tarao, general secretary, STU, SEMCO.
Principal Ksh. Suresh Singh welcomed the freshers and urged them to maintain regular attendance and make the most of their academic journey.
As part of the felicitation programme, 13 students were honoured for their achievements in academics, sports and other co-curricular activities, particularly for bringing recognition to the college. Three teachers were also felicitated for completing their PhD and clearing the UGC-NET examination during the academic year.
The IQAC Awards 2026 were also presented by Dr Miranda Bembem Mutuwa, co-ordinator, IQAC, under various categories, including Most Promising Department, Best Committee/Club/Student Organisation, Best Head of Department, Department with Best Documentation and Non-Teaching Staff of the Year.
The celebrations featured songs, dances and other cultural performances by students and staff. Captains and teacher-in-charges for the upcoming Annual Sports Meet were also introduced on the occasion.
Makung Alex of the Department of English was crowned Mr Fresher 2026, while Wontimla Sankhil of the Department of Education was crowned Miss Fresher 2026.
Dr Ngamthen Serbum Moyon, NSS Programme Officer Unit II, SEMCO, was also felicitated for receiving the MY Bharat NSS Programme Officer Award 2026 under the NSS Cell of Manipur University.
Renowned Manipuri singer Kohensome Dangsha attended the programme as the Guest Singer and entertained the gathering with his performance.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Shiarlua Flory Aimol, Social and Cultural Secretary, followed by a benediction by Ningson Primrose Tangkhul, Assistant Professor, Department of Anthropology.
