Imphal: The 4th Master Boys & Girls Boxing Championship 2025 concluded at Khuman Lampak Boxing Arena in Imphal with 182 young boxers from eight academies competing for top honors. The event, organized under the aegis of the Manipur Police Sports Club, highlighted emerging boxing talent from across the state.
Sarita Regional Boxing Academy (SRBA) secured the team championship title with 65 points, followed by MBA with 34 points and NBA with 29 points. The tournament also recognized individual excellence, with Yaiphaba Sanabam (37kg, Boys, NSA) and Lanthuilui Rongmei (46kg, Girls, SRBA-A) winning the Best Boxer awards.

In the Best Challenger category, Md Aslam Khan (37kg, Boys, MSBA-A) and L. Linthoi Chanu (43kg, Girls, PKBA) were honoured for their performances. K. Tomthininganba (25kg, Boys, MBA) and Sosovi Shatang (43kg, Girls, SRBA-A) were named the Most Promising Boxer Girls.
Speaking as the Chief Guest, Inspector General of Police (IGP) I.K. Muivah highlighted three key aspects for achieving success in boxing. “Firstly, a talent hunt needs to be done at the grassroots. Secondly, training at coaching centres should start at an early age. Thirdly, maintaining discipline throughout is required to achieve success at the international level in the future,” he said.

The three-day championship was the first of its kind at the Masters level in India, held under the supervision of Manipur Police Sports Club and SP Sports. Notably, 10 boxers from the Ukhrul district won medals in the event.
