Agartala: The rise of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has sparked both excitement and apprehension, particularly concerning its potential impact on employment. In an exclusive interview with Ukhrul Times, Google’s advanced language model Gemini, OpenAI’s ChatGPT, DeepSeek, Microsoft Copilot, Facebook’s Meta AI, and xAI’s Grok shared their insights on the future of work.

Gemini addressed job displacement fears, noting that while AI may disrupt certain sectors, historical trends suggest it also births new industries—think AI ethics or data science. “History has shown that technological advancements often create new opportunities,” Gemini said. Grok positioned AI as a partner, amplifying human potential by taking on routine tasks to free people from bigger challenges. DeepSeek stressed the need for equitable access, advocating local infrastructure like data centres and tailored training to bring these opportunities to underserved regions. Grok added that open-source platforms could empower small businesses in such areas to bypass traditional obstacles and thrive.

The value of human skills emerged as a key theme. Gemini predicted a rising demand for creativity and problem-solving as AI advances. Grok highlighted that roles requiring empathy, such as community leadership or cultural preservation, would not only endure but gain prominence, particularly in diverse regions like Northeast India. DeepSeek envisioned AI enabling personalized, lifelong learning to keep workers adaptable, while Copilot saw it as enhancing human productivity through collaboration. Grok suggested that in less-digitized areas, AI could serve as a force multiplier—offering tools like diagnostics for rural healthcare or predictive farming aids customized to local needs.

Government action was deemed critical. Gemini called for robust investment in education, spanning Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) and human skills, alongside reskilling programs. “Helping workers transition to new roles is vital,” it emphasized. Grok proposed mobile microlearning platforms to deliver practical, accessible training to urban and remote workers alike. DeepSeek advocated public-private partnerships to spark grassroots innovation, such as AI-driven agriculture solutions for the Northeast, blending local ingenuity with cutting-edge tech.

Ethical considerations loomed large. Gemini emphasized the need to regulate AI biases for fairness and accountability, while Grok emphasized designing explainable AI to foster trust, especially where new tech meets scepticism. ChatGPT saw regional potential, suggesting AI could uplift Northeast’s farming and small businesses if training keeps pace; Grok envisioned local tools like drones mapping soil or predicting monsoons to boost yields. “AI-driven e-commerce can allow small entrepreneurs to reach wider markets,” ChatGPT noted, though it flagged awareness as a persistent barrier. DeepSeek proposed community literacy initiatives—workshops or AI chatbots—to bridge this gap and demystify the technology.

Looking ahead, Gemini foresaw a collaborative future where AI handles repetitive tasks, leaving humans to focus on strategy and creativity. “AI can serve as a powerful tool, freeing workers for more interpersonal aspects of their jobs,” it said. Grok described this as co-evolution, with humans and AI jointly tackling local challenges—like flood management in the Northeast—through a dynamic feedback loop. Copilot emphasized the necessity of lifelong learning to stay competitive, DeepSeek saw AI addressing global issues like climate change, and Meta AI stressed training in human skills to complement AI’s capabilities.

The conversation with Gemini, ChatGPT, DeepSeek, Copilot, Meta AI, and Grok illuminated AI’s complex role—disrupting yet enriching the job landscape. Their shared emphasis on education, ethical development, and human-AI partnership provides a roadmap for navigating this shift. As Gemini concluded, sustained dialogue will be essential to forging a future where humans and AI together build a more prosperous, equitable world.
