State Observes Vijay Diwas (Indo-Pak War, 1971) 2024

Imphal, December 16, (DIPR): Chief Minister N Biren Singh attended the observance of Vijay Diwas (Indo-Pak War, 1971) at 1st Battalion Manipur Rifles, Banquet Hall, Imphal today. The observance function was organised by the Government of Manipur.

Addressing the gathering the CM paid regards to the martyrs of the Indo-Pak War, 1971 who sacrificed their lives and the veterans to save the Nation from the enemy.

He remembers that to fight in the Kargil War the home guards serving under the State were promoted to Havaldar to take part in the war. The valorousness act that they displayed have driven away the enemy and the place earlier known as East Pakistan have been recognized as a country called Bangladesh.

But due the recent political unrest in the country, the Hindus minority have been facing ill-treatments from the majority and the Bangladeshis should realize the sacrifices which our forefathers made during the Kargil War, he added.

The CM stated that during this crucial time in the State, people must be united, committed and be sincere to bring peace in the State and save the present and future generations.

He stressed that, our land have been protected by out forefathers with swords and spears courageously, and some with vested interest are working ways to break the integrity of our State.   Some agencies are providing misinformation to the Central government about the ongoing crisis in the State which led to procrastination of taking measures to solve the issue. He added, the Central government have been provided with genuine information on the crisis and the solution to the issue shall be resolved soon.

Further maintained the need for all elected members, diplomats, bureaucrats to act in the righteous manner to save the present and the future generations. The Government shall act in accordance to the concrete policy with clear vision and it’s the high time to bridge the gap that seems to exist between the State forces and the Central Forces, also the gap between the politicians and the forces for the welfare of the State.

The CM praised the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah under whose supervision the State is progressing towards normalcy. Against all odds the State Government shall stand still for the people against those trying to destabilized the government. He added, that Manipur is not an independent country and the State shall function under the constitution of India.

Delivering his presidential speech at the gathering, Forest Minister Thongam Biswajit Singh, stated that it’s a historic event for the nation which led to the surrender of around 93,000 Pakistani troops after the victory. The day is celebrated to recall and honour those sacrifices which our soldiers made for the nation which gave birth to independent country Bangladesh.

The program began with an opening song and concluded by a closing song performed by the Artistes of Shri Shri Bal Mukunda Dev, Government Music College, Imphal.

The function was attended by Works Minister Konthoujam Govindas Singh, Social Welfare Minister Heikham Dingo Singh, Education Minister Thounaojam Basanta Singh, Hill Area Committee Chairman, Dinganglung Gangmei & MLA’s Karam Shyam, Sapam Kunjakeswor, Thangjam Arunkumar Singh, Usham Deben Singh, Sanasam Premchandra Singh, Manipur Building and other construction worker’s welfare board Chairman K. Saratkumar Singh, Administrative Secretaries, Director General of Police, Manipur Rajiv Singh, IPS, high ranking police officials, and Ex- Serviceman among others.
