Students announce indefinite shutting down of DM College of Commerce

Imphal: The Students’ Union of DM College of Commerce today announced indefinite closure of the college until the present college principal is removed. Students demand to oust Dr. Asem Nabachandra from the post of principal of DM College of Commerce without further delay, calling him inefficient and inconsiderate towards the interests of the college students.

Irate students declared indefinite shut down of the college until an efficient principal is appointed to run the college.

Briefing media persons at DM College of Commerce Complex today, General Secretary of the College Students’ Union Ngangbam Arish said that the condition of the college is deteriorating day by day owing to the principal. He claimed that students didn’t get regular classes and the administration system of the college had failed under the principal.

Arish also accused the principal of taking control over major posts in the college and bringing hindrance to its efficient functioning. He said additional courses have been introduced in the college which does not even have enough class-rooms, bringing inconvenience to students.

The student leader also said that they have apprised the Manipur Education Minister, Vice Chancellor of DM University, Commissioner and Director of the Education Department regarding the plight facing the students but no action has been taken till date.

Stating that the college needs a considerate and efficient principal who will work in the interests of the college and the students’ community, Ngangbam Arish said the college will remain shut indefinitely until the relevant authorities fulfill their demand.
