Students lock Engineering Wing of Manipur Education department

A group of students on Friday locked the office of the Engineering Wing of the Manipur Education department inside DM College campus, Imphal.

The student body was protesting against alleged inaction by the concerned authorities against alleged irregularities in the Engineering wing of the Education department.

Claiming that the office was locked by them, Apunba Ireipak Maheiroi Sinpanglup (AIMS), one of the student organisations in the state, threatened that intense forms of agitations will follow if appropriate action is not taken up by the government.

The AIMS had, on July 20 last, alleged many irregularities in the Engineering wing of the Education department regarding the construction of DM University and Heirok Engineering College.

While owning up the locking of the office, AIMS stated that they had even urged all authorities concerned to take up strict action against those who are involved in the case. “But the state government remained silent till date which compelled the student body to lock the department”, it added.
