UKHRUL, 17: Swacchata Hi Sewa Abhiyan 2024 will be celebrated across the country. This event marks a significant milestone as the Swachh Bharat Mission celebrates its tenth anniversary this year. The theme for this year is “Swabhav Swachhata-Sanskaar Swacchta” and the campaign will wind up on October 2, 2024.
Autonomous District Council of Ukhrul in collaboration with the Ukhrul Town Baptist Churches under Tangkhul Baptist Churches Association (TBCA) on Monday organised the “Swachhata Hi Seva (SHS), 2024” campaign at UBC Church, Ukhrul
As part of the campaign, a one day cleanliness drives were carried out at Ukhrul Town. ADC of Ukhrul Kajaigai Gangmei, SDO of Ukhrul, Dingringam Kamei, SDC of Ukhrul Hanyo Rungsung and Riamei Jangmei, Small Town Committee (STC) Leiyaphy Kasar, Executive Secretary of TBCA, Revd. Mathotmi Vasha, Youth Secretary of TBCA, Homreishang Muinao, staff of Ukhrul Autonomous District Council (UADC) and Pastors along with their respective church members actively participated in cleaning the town areas.

The campaign was officially launched by Additional Deputy Commissioner of Ukhrul, Kajaigai Gangmei amd and administered the Swachhata Hi Seva Pledge to all the officers and volunteers of the churches. He also highlighted the main event of the public cleanliness drive.
Rev.Dr .Mathotmi Vasha, Executive Secretary TBCA also expressed that churches of Ukhrul Town under TBCA have agreed to dedicate two days in a year for social work.

During the social work, the volunteers could be seen cleaning up clogged drains, filling up the pot holes of the road, cut and mow the grasses and weeds on the road side, collecting food wrappers and other litters that was thrown haphazardly on the road side of Ukhrul Town.
Hundreds of volunteers from six churches of Ukhrul (Kaziphung, Bumrei, UBC, Viewland, Phungyo, Hunphun, Zingtoze and Ramrum) church took part in cleanliness drive.
