Meghalaya COVID related death toll crosses 100

The death toll due to coronavirus related diseases crossed the 100-mark in Meghalaya after two more persons succumbed to the infection on Saturday.

Meanwhile, the state has recorded 51 new positive cases of COVID-19 and 63 new recoveries on Saturday.

The new cases include 24 from East Khasi Hills district, 11 Ri Bhoi district, 7 West Garo Hills district, 3 South Garo Hills district, 2 East Jaintia Hills district, 2 West Jaintia Hills district, 1 South West Garo Hills district and 1 East Garo Hills district.

Dr War said 63 persons who recovered from the infection include 20 from West Garo Hills, 20 Ri Bhoi, 9 East Jaintia Hills, 7 East Garo Hills, 3 East Khasi Hills, 3 South West Garo Hills and 1 West Jaintia Hills.

The state has detected a total of 10,632 COVID-19 out of which 1,014 are active cases, 9,518 recovered and 100 deaths.

Of the total active cases, Ri Bhoi has 315 positive cases, East Khasi Hills has 291, West Garo Hills 99, East Garo Hills 98, West Jaintia Hills 65, East Jaintia Hills 49, South Garo Hills 34, West Khasi Hills 29, South West Garo Hills 23, North Garo Hills 10 and South West Khasi Hills 1.

“Till date, swab samples of 2,19,427 persons have been tested of which 2,08,795 were found negative,” the senior medical official said.

There are 58,591 entrants from outside the state.
