CNPO Condemns Abduction of Stevenson Lamkang, Demands Immediate Release

Chandel: The Chandel Naga People’s Organisation (CNPO) has stated that the whereabouts of Sn. Stevenson Lamkang, son of Sn. Bungdon Lamkang, aged 26 years from Charangching Khunkha village in Chandel District, remain unknown two days after his abduction. He was taken by unknown gunmen dressed in security uniforms around 4:00 PM on 4th June 2024, between Tengnoupal and Saivom villages.

The CNPO, Information & Publicity in a press release issued Thursday stated, an FIR was lodged at Tengnoupal police station on the morning of 5th June 2024 under GD entry No. 09/TPL-PS/2024, but there has been no information or updates regarding his whereabouts until now.

The Chandel Naga People’s Organisation has strongly condemned the unfortunate and uncivilized act carried out by individuals impersonating security personnel, targeting an innocent civilian. The CNPO stated it stands in solidarity with the Lamkang tribe’s apex bodies and demands the immediate and unconditional release of Stevenson Lamkang.

The CNPO has also warned the concerned authorities and responsible agencies to ensure his safe release at the earliest. They have stated that failure to comply will result in the CNPO taking its own course of action, and any unfortunate consequences thereafter will be the sole responsibility of the concerned authorities and the government.
