Tamenglong College organises Students’ Induction and Counselling Programme

Tamenglong, Aug 17: The Students’ Induction and Counselling Programme of Tamenglong College was conducted today under the Theme “Igniting Your Dreams” at the Multipurpose Hall of the College with Dr. Kinthuijinang Maremmei, Principal, as the Function President and Keynote Speaker, and four teachers as resource persons.

According to Mr. Ngamtinlun Touthang, Asst. Professor, Dept. of Political Science and Coordinator of the Programme, Students’ Induction Programme was usually conducted at the beginning of the new semester focusing on the 1st semester students alone. But this time, it is being organised for all the students by broadening the topics assigned to the resource persons.

Dr. Maremmei, in his Keynote Address, focuses on the importance of co-curricular activities apart from the syllabus as it will open new avenues for students’ future careers. He appreciates students who excel in different fields including sports, music, painting, and also those who choose to be part of the first NCC batch of the College.

Among the resource persons, Shri Namsurei Thomas Kamei, IQAC Coordinator, spoke on the topic, “Respect, Responsibility, and Accountability: An Insight on Students’ Code of Conduct”; Shri David Jiangamlung Kamei, Joint Coordinator IQAC, spoke on, “Cultivating Reading Habit in the Digital Era: Benefits and Obstacles”; Dr. MG Liangkuwang, Asst. Professor & HoD, Dept. of Botany, spoke on “Exploring Career Pathways in Sciences: Opportunities and Challenges”, and Shri Daidatlung Kameih,
Asst. Professor & HoD, Dept. of Sociology and AOC, Examination Section, spoke on
“Maintaining Academic Integrity and Minimising Mistakes: A Focus on Semester Examinations”.

In the programme, the result of the painting competition conducted on 12 August 2024 under the theme “Respecting the National Flag” as part of the Har Ghar Tiranga observation was declared and prizes were distributed. Certificates were also distributed to the resource persons and partakers of the programme.

Meanwhile, Mr. Namgaying Newme, BA 3rd Semester, presented a special number; Dr. S. Solomon, Asst. Professor, Dept. of Economics, served as the Recording Secretary; Ms. Lugailiu Riamei, BA 2nd Semester & Mr. Worthing Gonmei, B.Sc 2nd Semester, were the moderators of the programme, and Mr. Ngamtinlun Touthang and Mr. James Pamei, Coordinator and Joint Coordinator of the programme proposed the welcome address and vote of thanks respectively.
