District Level “National Deworming Day” was launched at Tamenglong on Tuesday. The programme was launched by DC Tamenglong Armstrong Pame IAS at DC Conference Hall, Mini Secretariat in the presence of CMO Tamenglong, Dr Chambo Gonmei, ADM Kajaigai Gangmei, SDO Mahesh Hiralal Chaudhari, SDO Tousem Paul Nangsha, Medical officers, DPMU tml, Supervisors from ICDS and ASHAS.
The programme was organised by District Health Society Tamenglong and it’ll be observed from 19th to 28th April 2021.
National Deworming Day is conducted to create awareness on worm infection and to iradicate intestinal worm infestations, also referred to as Soil-Transmitted Helminths (STH), in children from 1 to 19 years.
During the launching event Deworming pills were given to children by DC Tamenglong. However since schools are closed, it is announced that distribution of Deworming pills will be distributed community based through house to house visits by ANMs, AWWs, & ASHAs.
Health Department further notified that the total target children to give Deworming pills are from 3 blocks – Tamenglong block, Tamei block and Tousem block, and ICDS project is 30, 177.
