Ukhrul, June 17: Tamenglong Trade Fair Expo is underway at the Indoor Stadium, Tamenglong district headquarters. Organised by the North East Trade Fair Society Kohima in collaboration with Chramram Segment Voice (CSV), the the trade fair kicked off on June 14 and will continue till June 27.

The main objectives of the fair is to facilitate the opportunity of buying things which are rarely found in the district and promote the idea of entrepreneurship among the locals, especially to the youths, organizer of the expo Appolos T Panmei said.

This trade fair provides opportunities for the locals and budding entrepreneurs and also serves as a mode of fun and entertainment, especially, the children. School children are on summer vacation currently and it is the best time to allow them to enjoy various games within the premises of the expo. People can also enjoy the fast food restaurants within the premises, Panmei added.

The expo trades in varied items, including handloom and handicrafts, kitchen wares, ayurvedic treatment medicines, Thailand jewellery, Naga traditional dress and sofa sets, among others.

Stressing on the need to create awareness about entrepreneurship, Panmei lamented that no local entrepreneur has approached for a stall.

“Despite several advertisements about the expo through local dailies and banners in the town, it is disheartening that no local business group or entrepreneur has approached us for a stall. So far, 16 stalls, mostly from Guwahati, Kolkata and Dimapur, have been set up. The expo will continue till June 20. So any interested local business or entrepreneur can approach us for a stall,” Panmei said while adding that the expo can be extended provided there is positive feedback or demands from the people.

Panmei also advised local entrepreneurs, including the budding entrepreneurs, to look out for such expos in the future and take the opportunity to promote local products while strengthening their business.
