The Tangkhul Leihsak Long – Tangkhul Trade & Commerce Council (TTCC) on Friday held its official Handing Over Ceremony at its office opposite Ukhrul town Hall.
As part of the main event ceremony, the newly elected Tangkhul Trade & Commerce Council team members were given the blessings by Dr. Banner Makan, Director TTA.
Rolling out their new action plans and roadmap, Peacemoon Zimik president TLL said, “We will work towards strengthening our community economy by protecting, promoting and encouraging our local resources and businesses.”
He thanked the outgoing president for the invaluable footprints and appealed the former president and the advisors to continue their backbone support in ushering a more sustain and prosperous community life.
He said that the new team aims and objectives will be specifically based on Tangkhul Leihsak Long motto: “Protect, Preserve & Prosper.”
He opined that if Tangkhul community are to further improve and upscale their economy from the existing position, populace need to support and strengthen the council. And if the council is strengthen, the position of those engaged in business sectors too will improve thereby contributing to the wealth of the nation while we work towards leveraging our resources.
Leihsak Long has a huge responsibilities if it has to bring holistic changes in the economy health conditions of the community.
The newly elected president Peacemoon Zimik said this in his maiden speech on Friday as he officially took over the helm of affairs.
Meanwhile, the outgoing President Ramyo Zimik urged the newly-elected president and his executive councils to work towards ensuring economy freedom and advised them to start a self-reliant project. “If Leihsak Long are to survive it has to generate more income of their own and stand on its own feet.”
Commenting on the existing market scenario, he explicitly stated that our market has fallen in the hands of outsiders. To address the imbalance facing the community, he urged the trade council to initiate more business group.
Urging the new executives to finish the incomplete task, he said that it had started various projects including Pilong which would emerge as the Special Economy Zone (SEZ) and a survey for the same has been recently carried out in the presence of NEC and others.
He also urged them to move forward by bridging the gap through mutual understanding.
The program was attended by Leihsak long advisors, chief election commissioner and well wishers.
It may be recalled that as per the notification issued by the election Commission on 14th February, 2021, election for its executives members were held on 11 March, 2024.
The following persons were elected as new Executive Members of the Tangkhul Leihsak Long (TLL) for the tenure 2021 -2024.
President – Peacemoon Zimik, General secretary – Wungsem Mairnao, Joint Secretary – Chuiyami Singlei, Treaurer – Awungshi Shangreithan, Finance secretary- Kanmila Shimrah, Convenor Action Committee – Machung Ragui, Co-Covenor Sotharyo Kasar.
