The Tangkhul Leisak Long (TLL), Trade and Commerce Council Thursday, in a letter to the deputy commissioner of Ukhrul district urged the authority to allow opening of banks and markets such as vegetable vendors and shops for at least five days a week instead of the permitted three days a week.

TLL noted that the prolonged curfew due to the prevailing pandemic has caused “untold hardships and misery to the people.”

The Tangkhul Trade and Commerce Council in the letter urged DC to explore possibilities for consideration of the request put forward.

It also pointed out that opening of banks and markets for five days will not only ease public inconvenience and hardships, but help check mass transmission of Covid-19 as it will reduce public rush and crowding at banks and market places.
