Ukhrul, September 20: The Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL) has issued a press statement on September 20 in denunciation of recent armed Kuki militant actions along the Imphal-Ukhrul route, National Highway-202. In a strongly worded statement, the TNL has called for an immediate end to these disruptive activities and emphasized the paramount importance of maintaining peace and harmony in the region.

The TNL, representing the Tangkhul Naga community, expressed deep concern over the repeated incidents involving the stopping and threatening of innocent commuters, as well as the intimidation of workers engaged in restoration and repair work along the vital transportation artery.

While acknowledging the provocations, the TNL underscored its long-standing commitment to restraint in order to safeguard the prevailing peace in the area. They have extended tolerance in the face of such provocations on numerous occasions.

In an unequivocal message to those responsible for the recent disturbances, the TNL demanded the cessation of public nuisances within their jurisdiction. They warned that any adverse events resulting from these provocations would be unequivocally attributed to the perpetrators, who would be held solely responsible for the consequences.

Furthermore, the TNL appealed to Kuki villagers residing along the Ukhrul-Imphal highway to take heed of the situation and cooperate in bringing an immediate end to these disruptions. The TNL cautioned that failing to do so could result in shared responsibility for any unfortunate incidents that may occur subsequently.

The statement released by the TNL concluded with a final ultimatum, asserting that this was the last opportunity for militants, groups, or individuals involved to cease their disruptive activities in the interest of preserving peace and harmony within the Tangkhul Naga Long’s jurisdiction.
