The Tangkhul Naga Wungnao Long celebrated 75th Naga Independence Day at its Wino bazaar office in Ukhrul headquarter on Saturday.
Speaking at the historic event, president Tangkhul Naga Wungnao Long, SA. Ramnganing who hoisted the flag said Naga Independence day is celebrated across the Naga inhabited areas by young and old alike. “A time has come for the Naga brethren to unite and humbled down before God and prayed for fruitful settlement of the long pending Naga political struggle.”
He further made a clarion appeal to the Naga citizens to seek God’s blessing and make the ongoing struggle a fruitful mission through his grace.

The event was attended by TNWL executive members, TNL assembly speaker, Tangkhul villages headmen, and well wishers. The programme was moderated by TNWL secretary, Kaphaoleng Angkang.
The day marks the historic event of Independence of the Naga people from India. Led by village authorities, the Naga flag is hoisted across the Tangkhul villages.
The Nagas celebrates its Independence Day on 14th of August every year, one day ahead of India.
