Ukhrul: The Raphei Katamnao Long, Zingtun Tangkhul Katamnao Long, Sagolmang Area Naga Students’ Association, Yang Raphei Longnao and Northern Raphei Student Union released a press communique on March 14 extending their regards to all the winning candidates in the 12th Manipur Legislative Election, especially to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for returning to power with the absolute majority.

“The result of the recently concluded Assembly election is also an indicator of the inclusive policy being cultivated by the BJP in their previous term. Now, with the hope that such inclusiveness will be encouraged in the future for the peaceful coexistence of Hills and Valley, we will appreciate if you could accommodate a cabinet berth to one of the MLA’s from the Ukhrul district”, it added.

The press communique also stated that it has been more than two decades since the last assignment of portfolio was given to Ukhrul district in general and 45-Chingai (ST) AC in particular.

It further urged for Khashim Vashum, MLA from 45-Chingai (ST) AC to be assigned a cabinet berth.

The press communique said that Khashim Vashum represents the neglected area of the state borders of Nagaland and Myanmar.

“With him assigned to the cabinet berth and expecting to see an equitable development in the state and also to help achieve the vision of Hills and Valley being one,”the joint Tangkhul student unions added.
