Target Testing for COVID in Manipur: 230 cases confirmed till date

A total number of COVID-19 positive cases detected during Targeted Testing in the Assembly constituencies where by-elections were held amid the pandemic on November 7 rose to 230 as 26 more fresh cases were detected on Tuesday.

Manipur Health department is currently conducting a testing drive at two Assembly constituencies –Lilong and Wangjing-Tentha – in Thoubal district where the by-elections were held on November 7 last.

The drive was first launched at Wangoi assembly constituency of Imphal West district where as many as 133 members of the same number of households were found contracted with the virus.

During the Targeting Testing, one member of each household within the constituencies were tested which will be followed by testing for the virus to other members if the member is found positive.

With the positive cases detected on Tuesday, a total of 230 persons were found positive for the virus till date.

Meanwhile, the Manipur’s total number of positive cases of COVID-19 rose to 23,940 on Tuesday after 290 persons including 22 personnel of Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) were confirmed as new COVID-19 positive cases during the last 24 hours.

The death toll due to the pandemic has also increased to 240 as two persons expired due to the COVID-19 related illnesses in the last 24 hours.

The fresh infections were detected during testing of 3,693 samples. A total of 4,06,095 samples have been tested so far in the state.

State recovery tally also rose to 20,525 as 151 patients were discharged after they recovered from the viral disease today. The number of active cases is 3,175. The recovery rate of the state is 85.73%, according to the daily COVID-19 status update of the state Health department.
