UKHRUL: Thadou bodies under the aegis of Thadou Inpi–General Headquarters (TI-GHQ) issued a joint declaration on Tuesday regarding the administration of TI-GHQ and its branch and block units.
In the declaration made public for general awareness, the house stated that as per the 2015 Delhi Conclave Declaration, the erstwhile Thadou Tribe Council had been abolished and reconstituted as Thadou Inpi–General Headquarters (TI-GHQ). It asserted that any organisation formed in the name of Thadou without the knowledge or approval of TI-GHQ would not be recognised as a genuine Thadou body.
Accordingly, the declaration stated that Thadou Inpi–Manipur (TIM), Thadou Community International (TCI), Thadou Linguistic Forum (TLF), and TSA-GHQ, allegedly formed by Michael Lamjathang Haokip and associates would be treated as unlawful and illegitimate organisations under the constitution of TI-GHQ.
The house further stated that TTC-GHQ in Churachandpur, reportedly formed by Y.T. Haokip without the knowledge of TI-GHQ, would also be considered an unlawful organisation under its constitutional framework.
The declaration also resolved that the Thadou Cultural Festival (HUN-2026) would be observed in Kangpokpi district to showcase and preserve the identity and cultural heritage of the Thadou tribe.
In a strongly worded statement, the house expressed what it described as “absolute outrage and deep indignation” at the conduct of Michael Lamjathang Haokip, accusing him of publicly disowning the historical and social position of Thadou within the Kuki fold and adopting positions perceived as hostile to the collective interest of the community during a period of crisis.

The declaration described such actions as morally indefensible, socially irresponsible, and damaging to communal solidarity. It further questioned how trust could be placed in a leader who, it alleged, distanced himself from his own people during a time of hardship, stating that credibility built upon denouncing one’s own community cannot form the foundation of genuine peace or reconciliation.
The meeting also urged the Meetei community and others to remain vigilant, act responsibly, and disassociate from what it termed as acts of betrayal to prevent further escalation of tensions.
