UKHRUL: The Indigenous People’s Forum, Manipur (IPFM) on Thursday appealed to the Chief Minister, Yumnam Khemchand Singh, to retract the announcement of ex gratia and endorsement to NIA investigation on the alleged killing of Kuki militants at Litan/Shangkai area on Wednesday before receiving actual proof or a police report. It urged the chief minister to take action against illegal immigrants brandishing sophisticated guns in civilian areas.
“The announcement of ex gratia to the alleged killing of two Kuki militants before receiving evidential proof or a police report is premature and questionable. We urge you to retract this decision, which may be seen as appeasement,” IPFM said in a statement.
It stated that the abduction of Tangkhul civilians by Kuki militants at Shangkai Kuki village, despite the presence of Assam Rifles and other security forces, raises concerns about the alignment of security forces with the Kuki militants.
“This perceived leniency towards Kuki militants is unacceptable… We appeal to you to withdraw the announced decisions immediately. Failure to do so will lead us to consider the state BJP Government, under your leadership, as adversaries of the Indigenous People of Manipur,” IPFM stated.
