Kangpokpi: The Thonglang Atongba Village Authority (TAVA) in a press release Tuesday said it is astounded to learn that some Nepali leaders has requested the district administration to remove the sign boards of its forefather historical monuments which are well within its village jurisdiction.

  1. Every monument that stands within our village jurisdiction has great historical attachment to us and they are our identity and our pride. It is a hereditary responsibility to protect and preserve the monuments since our forefather’s time. Apart from putting up the name plates (sign boards), more prominent activities in order to protect and preserve those legendary monuments are in the pipeline.
  2. The monuments are many centuries old and was erected by superhuman legends and deities of the ancient Thonglang village. As a matter of the Nepalese who have been allowed to settled by paying Rampon (tradional land tax) have destroyed some of the priceless ancient monuments in the course of farming activities. Such callous act of disrespect to the ancient monuments is nothing but a direct challenge to the unquestionable ownership of the land.
  3. The complainants namely 1. Kherga Tamang 2. Sagar Gewali 3. Man Kumar Yogi are no more residents of the Thonglang areas and they are in-fact the instigators and trouble creators who have been misleading the peace loving common people of the Thonglang and it’s adjoining areas.
  4. It may be mention that the hon’ble High court of Manipur order WP(C) No. 911 of 2018 dated 19 August 2021 and W.A. No.29 of 2021 ref:- WP(C) No. 911 of 2018 dated 23 August 2021 passed an order(s) appointing of Gaon Bura ( GB)/ Chairman was held Null and Void. Whereas the Deputy commissioner of Kangpokpi order No.DC ( KPI)/1/Legal/2019 order dated 16 June, 2022 has cancelled the order No.ADC ( KPI) 12/70-08 dated 6 may 2008 issued my Additional Deputy Commissioner, Kangpokpi regarding the appointment of Goan bura / Chairman of Irang part -1 stands cancelled. The district administrators are also requested to be more sensible in entertaining cases like this one. Such kind of absurdity will only provoke one another and disturb the peace.
