Three arrested with marijuana in Meghalaya

Shillong: Three persons were arrested along with marijuana in East Jaintia Hills district of Meghalaya on Wednesday.

The driver of a Honda City car identified as Laxmindar Gour was arrested after 84 kg of marijuana were recovered from inside his vehicle while conducting a naka checking at Damcherra, Kuliang, NH-6, Additional Superintendent of Police, B Jyrwa said.

In the same place, police also arrested Md Hachan Mia (37) and Ajir Hosen (35) from Tripura after 77kgs of marijuana was recovered from a Mahindra KUV 100 car.

The police officer said all formalities under NDPS Act have been observed in the presence of independent witnesses.

Cases have been registered with the Lumshnong police station and an investigation is on to trace the forward and backward linkages.
