Three highway robbers arrested in Meghalaya

Shillong: Three highway robbers were arrested after they robbed a truck driver in East Jaintia Hills district of Meghalaya.

The incident took place on Monday night when the three robbers had waylaid a passing truck and robbed the driver of his phone and money, police said.

On a tipped-off, the district police immediately swung into action and were able to arrest the highway robbers within a few hours of the incident and seized one mobile phone, cash of Rs 4500 and Alto 800 Maruti car, used in the committing of the offence. The police, however, did not mention the names of the robbers.

A case has been registered and necessary action has been taken as per law, the police added.
