Imphal, September 20: Thadou Inpi Manipur (TIM) said today that it “deeply mourns the martyrdom” of Naib Subedar Shyam Gurung and Rifleman Ranjit Singh Kashyap of 33 Assam Rifles and prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured Assam Rifles personnel and civilians on the “terror ambush” on September 19 at Nambol in Bishnupur district of Manipur.

Thadou Inpi Manipur then “strongly condemns this act of terror”. TIM said violence has no place in a civilized society, and “we urge authorities to swiftly bring the perpetrators to justice”.

TIM then said the loss of so many lives among the civilian population and security forces during the “violent conflicts” in Manipur has created frustration among the youth, risking further violence. “What Manipur needs is a solution and lasting peace”, it added.

The Thadou body then appealed to the Government of India to address the root causes of this unrest.
