Ukhrul: The Tangkhul Katamnao Long Delhi (TKLD) has announced a robust education project to support and empower the rising number of graduates and those in higher education within the Tangkhul community. The project was adopted during the TKLD General Body Meeting (GBM) in 2024 and encompasses a wide range of initiatives designed to support students in various aspects of their academic and personal development.

The roots of education may be bitter, but the fruit is sweet, as Aristotle once said, quoted TKLD. “This sentiment resonates with the Tangkhul community, where the number of graduates and individuals pursuing higher education is steadily increasing. Despite these achievements, there remains a pressing need for guidance and support for the younger generation to navigate the challenges of today’s competitive job market,” TKLD noted.

The education project includes continuing existing meritorious programs such as coaching for competitive exams, career guidance, and counseling. Additionally, it introduces new initiatives such as providing support for hostel accommodation, conducting workshops on job search and grooming, and developing humanistic skills like art and music.

TKLD’s new tenure, the students’ union in Delhi says it is committed to actively pursuing these educational projects to ensure their successful implementation and smooth operation. The union said it is pleased to announce the selection of a new committee dedicated to educational purposes for the 2024-2026 tenure who will assist in all TKLD educational initiatives.

The education project, TKLD says, will introduce new initiatives like supporting hostel accommodation, conducting workshops on job search and grooming, and developing humanistic skills such as art and music.

Further, TKLD says that the significance of this project is underscored by the fact that India is one of the youngest countries in the world, with a large labor force grappling with unemployment. The Tangkhul community is not immune to this issue, and proactive measures are needed to ensure that the younger generation is well-prepared to compete in the job market. Without action, the consequences could be dire.

The TKLD, known for its service to the Tangkhul students in Delhi and commitment to serving the community, has historically catered to various social needs, including those beyond student welfare. However, the current circumstances call for a renewed focus on educational initiatives.
