Ukhrul, Feb 19: Following an agreement reached today between the Chief Secretary of the Government of Manipur and representatives of the Tangkhul Frontal Organizations, led by the Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL), the ongoing agitation against the transfer of Zuringla Kengoo, IAS, Deputy Commissioner of Ukhrul, has been called off with immediate effect.

According to a press release from the Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL), this decision was made after a meeting with the Chief Secretary, who listened patiently and expressed his commitment to addressing public grievances in the future.

The apex Tangkhul civil body noted that the Chief Secretary had invited them for a meeting on February 20, 2025, but decided to reschedule it for today, recognizing that the agitation had paralyzed all district administrative activities. The meeting addressed various issues, particularly the ongoing protest, which had lasted over 20 days, except for a brief pause of three days following the Chief Minister’s assurance that the matter would be reconsidered.

The TNL expressed heartfelt gratitude to the leaders of all Frontal Organizations for their active participation in sustaining the agitation until its resolution, as well as to the public for their unwavering support and cooperation throughout this movement, which was launched solely in the interest of the community and for the sake of humanity.
