UKHRUL: The Working Committee of the Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL) on Thursday urged the State and Central governments to take immediate action against armed cadres under the Suspension of Operations (SoO) agreement, alleging continued attacks on villages in Ukhrul and Kamjong districts.
In a press communiqué issued Thursday, the TNL said the latest incident took place at Sinakeithei village where civilians came under heavy gunfire and bombing. A 27-year-old resident, Chihanngam Rungsung, was seriously injured after being shot in the ankle and is currently undergoing treatment at District Hospital, Ukhrul.

The WC-TNL condemned the incident and said such attacks on civilians have continued since the outbreak of violence at Litan on February 8.
Per the TNL, the situation over the past three months has disrupted normal life in several areas, with villagers facing hardship and fear. It also alleged that movement along National Highway 202-A has been affected due to the presence of armed groups, with reports of harassment, extortion and attacks on civilian vehicles.
While stating that the Tangkhul community has exercised restraint, the TNL warned that the situation cannot continue indefinitely and called for immediate intervention.

It further urged the authorities to enforce control in affected areas, including parts of Ukhrul, Kamjong and adjoining Kangpokpi district, where it claimed armed cadres are operating.
The TNL said failure to act would further aggravate the situation.
