The prompt hill districts emergency total shutdown called by the ATSUM and endorsed by the ANSAM and KSU following the wee hours arrests of the three students’ leaders of ATSUM by the state Police was effectively maintained in Ukhrul district headquarters on Tuesday.

The lightning arrest snowballed when the apex tribal students’ Union were agitating the Manipur Government over the alleged delay in announcing ADC polls notifications in the hill districts of Manipur.

Stating that late Monday meeting was government centric move, ATSUM had resolved to continue the ongoing agitations.

No ugly incidents were reported.

Earlier Monday, government offices including mini Secretariat, ZEO Office, ADC office, Post office, Forest Office, and banks were completely closed down as students’ body picketed the government offices in Ukhrul district Headquarters as part of the proposed action plans of ATSUM.
