Traffic Advisory Issued for Republic Day Celebrations and Rehearsal at Kangla

UKHRUL: The Manipur Traffic Control Police Wing has issued a traffic advisory ahead of the 77th Republic Day celebrations on January 26 and the full dress rehearsal on January 24, to be held at Kangla, Imphal. The measures have been put in place to ensure the smooth conduct of the events and public safety.

According to the advisory, the traffic regulations will remain in force from 6:30 am on January 24 and January 26 until the conclusion of the respective functions.

Entry and exit arrangements at Kangla have been categorised for authorised persons and the general public. Authorised persons attending the function will be allowed entry through the Southern Gate of Kangla, while the general public will be permitted entry only on foot through the Western Gate. Parking for authorised vehicles has been arranged at the Helipad, Kangla, while public vehicles may be parked along the roadside stretch between Johnstone School and BT Park.

To manage traffic flow, several diversions will be enforced across Imphal. Heavy vehicles coming from Lilong towards Singjamei will be diverted to Pisumthong, while public vehicles heading towards Moirangkhom will be diverted to Keishamthong Bridge. Vehicles from Mayang Imphal Road towards Keishampat Junction will be diverted via Tiddim Line or Wahengbam Leikai.

Similarly, vehicles from Koirengei towards Khongnang Ani Karak will be diverted to Dingku Road or Assembly Road. Traffic from Imphal East towards Sanjenthong and Minuthong will be rerouted through Lomlong Bridge, Loklaobung, Thumbuthong and Singjamei Bridge. Vehicles coming from Uripok Kangchup Road towards Flyover Bridge and BT Road will be diverted to Nagamapal, while those from New Cachar Road will be diverted either to Nagamapal or Keishampat.

Vehicles from Tiddim Road towards Keishampat Junction will be diverted to Wahengbam Leikai or Mayang Imphal Road, and traffic from Khoyathong towards LIC Crossing will be rerouted to Nagamapal. Vehicles coming from Khuman Lampak and MMTA towards North AOC Crossing will be diverted at MMTA Crossing towards Minuthong.

The restrictions will not apply to vehicles of authorised persons attending the function and emergency service vehicles.

The Traffic Control Police have appealed to the general public to plan their journeys in advance on both days and cooperate with traffic personnel on duty to avoid inconvenience and traffic congestion.
