UKHRUL: A new tribal market was inaugurated today in Mayophung village, located in Ukhrul District. The market was established through the initiative of the Nashira Area People’s Organization (NAPO). Deputy Chief Minister Losii Dikho and several Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) attended the inauguration ceremony.Â
As the chief guest, Losii Dikho highlighted the market’s promising location and assured attendees of support for its expansion, as well as improvements in water supply and the construction of toilets.

MLA Ram Muivah, speaking at the event, emphasized the need for delimitation to ensure fair distribution of constituencies. He also announced that a four-lane road connecting Imphal to Mayophung has been included in the government’s development plans. MLA Leishiyo Keishing urged the community to adopt a business-oriented mindset to foster the area’s development. He also stressed the importance of land law and integrated checkposts in border regions. MLA Khashim Vashum remarked on the potential for the Mayophung area to develop into a township and commended the residents, particularly women, for their efforts during times of conflict.Â
The Brigade Commander of the Maha Regiment in the area committed to providing Rs 500,000 for the expansion of the market and expressed willingness to cooperate in its development. The event was attended by various church leaders, village chiefs, civil society organizations, and villagers.

Additionally, special appearances were made by Mac Kasar and Valleyrose Rangla. Ashang Kasar, an advisor for NAPO, delivered the vote of thanks on behalf of the organizers.
