Korean Ambassador H.E. Lee Seong-ho Meets Tripura CM Dr. Manik Saha, Set for Varsity Talk

Agartala, Aug 11: The Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to India, H.E. Lee Seong-ho, called on Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha at the Secretariat on Monday, focusing on prospects of linking Tripura with South Korea’s trade network.

Officials emphasized that the meeting saw discussions on various issues of mutual interest between South Korea and the state. Chief Minister Dr. Saha noted that India shares cordial relations with South Korea and said that establishing commercial ties between Tripura and the East Asian nation would further strengthen these bonds.

He also briefed the Korean envoy on the state’s socio-economic progress, improvement in connectivity, and developments in sectors such as industry and sports.

Meanwhile, rhe Ambassador was apprised of Tripura’s rich folk culture, industrial potential, tourism prospects, and communication infrastructure.

Public Works Department Secretary Kiran Gitte was present during the courtesy meeting and also participated in the discussions.

It is learned that as part of his visit, the Korean Ambassador will deliver a special lecture on “Korea-India, 50 Years and Beyond” at Tripura University Auditorium on Tuesday from 3:30 pm to 4:50 pm. The programme will also feature cultural performances by the Korean Cultural Centre.
