AGARTALA: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has chosen Agartala as one of five cities in India to host the playoff stage of the TATA IPL Fan Park 2026, with Swami Vivekananda Maidan, also known as Astabal, set to come alive on May 29 and May 31 for Qualifier 2 and the IPL Final respectively.
The Tripura Cricket Association (TCA) confirmed the development on Wednesday, with TCA Honorary Secretary Subrata Dey inviting media representatives to a press meet at Hotel Rajdhani, B.K Road, Agartala on Thursday to discuss the details of the event.
According to the TCA, the BCCI shortlisted five cities across five states for the playoff phase of the fan park this year, and Agartala has been included as one of the venues.
Meanwhile, this is not the first time the capital city has featured in the BCCI’s fan park initiative. Last year, Agartala hosted the TATA IPL Fan Park 2025 on April 12 and 13 at Swami Vivekananda Ground, offering a mix of live match screenings, music, entertainment, and fan activities, all with free entry. The 2025 edition expanded the fan park initiative to 50 cities across 23 states and one Union Territory.

However, This year Agartala’s inclusion carries added significance as the city is part of the exclusive playoff-phase venues, covering the two most high-stakes matches of the tournament. The fan park events will be held at Swami Vivekananda Maidan on May 29 for Qualifier 2 and on May 31 for the IPL Final.
Further details regarding entry, timings, and activities at the Agartala fan park are expected to be announced following Thursday’s press meet.
