UKHRUL: The Chief Minister of Manipur, Yumnam Khemchand Singh, stated today that the Tronglaobi incident was carried out by individuals and groups opposed to the formation of a government in the state. He made these remarks during a public function and project inauguration at the Naorem Leikai Community Hall in the Langthabal Assembly Constituency, Imphal West District.
Accompanying the Chief Minister were Deputy Chief Minister Losii Dikho and MLA Karam Shyam Singh.

In his address, the Chief Minister referred to the tragic incident that occurred in Tronglaobi, Bishnupur District, on April 7, when two young siblings were killed, and their mother was injured in an armed attack. He asserted that the attack was perpetrated by groups against the formation of the state government.
The tragic incident sparked widespread protests and condemnation throughout the state. The Chief Minister expressed confidence that the perpetrators would be apprehended, stating that there is no way for them to escape justice. He noted that the government was formed in response to public pressure following the imposition of President’s rule in the state.

Furthermore, he mentioned that he had neither anticipated becoming the Chief Minister nor campaigned for the position. When entrusted with the role, he accepted it, considering the prevailing situation in the state.
Following the formation of the government, the Chief Minister emphasized that they began visiting various areas in the hills, including Jiribam, to engage in dialogue with different groups and victims. He reiterated that peace is the only development path.
Expressing his anguish at the occurrence of the tragic incident, particularly during a time when efforts for peace were underway, he shared his personal visits to the victims in the hospital, expressing empathy for their suffering. He characterized the actions of those seeking to perpetuate violence for their own interests as the acts of miscreants.

The Chief Minister condemned the violent protests that followed the incident, clarifying that he does not support violence as a means of protest. He highlighted the candlelight vigil held in memory of the two Tangkhul Nagas killed in the TM Kasom ambush.
During the program, the Chief Minister inaugurated five projects, including three water supply schemes: Karam, Haoreibi, and Lilong Chajing. Additionally, he opened two community halls located at Naran Konjil Mayai Leikai and Naorem Leikai.
