Tumuyon Khullen Bags Champion at MKS Sports Meet 2026

SENAPATI: Tumuyon Khullen (Tamuilong) team bagged the championship title at the 34th Maralui Karalimei Swijoikang (MKS) Sports Meet, 2026 that concluded on Thursday at Astro Turf Ground, Senapati in Manipur. The final match was played between T/Khullen and Kavanam where the former won the match by 4-0 goals.

The valedictory program was graced by Losii Dikho, MLA, 48-Mao AC as the chief guest, Rangnamei Rang Peter, Director, Tribal Affairs & Hills/TRI & MD/MTDC as the guest of honour, Rang David Kung, ADC/ADM, Mao, i/c SDO/BDO, Songsong as special guest, Kuba Peter, President, Naga People’s Organization as the host and RN. Hannah, President, Senapati District Women’s Association as special invitee, respectively.

In his welcome note, M. Luikang Luckson, Tribunal General of ANSAM stated that over the past few days, the tournament witnessed incredible performances, unforgettable moments and true spirit of unity. The student leader stated that the theme, “Evolve together” reminded that growth is a collective effort that evolves as an individual, as a team and as a community. ANSAM Tribunal General urged all to celebrate every effort, every cheer and every achievement, stating sports is not just about winning but about giving one’s best and growing together. Coming to the conclusion of the sports meet, the student leader urged all to carry forward the spirit of unity, resilience and passions, adding to continue to evolve together, strive for excellence and inspire others to do the same.

Kuba Peter, president, NPO in his greetings stated that MLA Losii Dikho is not only an MLA to the Maos only but for all communities in the district including to the Kukis and Nepalis. He mentioned that the MLA is a sports loving person that made him the president of the Asufii Football Academy, president of the Naga Hill Districts Badminton Association and the president of Hill Districts Sports Association, Manipur. The NPO president extended his congratulations to the finalists and all the players for making the sports meet a grand success through their active participation, terming sports as a combination of team work, discipline and spirit of sportsmanship. 

Rang David Kung, MCS stated that he felt a sense of fulfillment about the 34th MKS Sports meet that had begun 10 days back. The guest lauded the student body, the host village and all the participating units by displaying their discipline, respect for one another as well as taking up all the items during the 10 days sports meet. The guest mentioned that the successful conduct of the sports meet has given out a clear message that sports is about coming together, having unity and fulfillment of one’s goal. 

Speaking as the chief guest, MLA Losii Dikho While congratulating the MKS expressed gladness to see support from all ages for the successful conduct of the sports meet. The MLA mentioned that he was encouraged to see different leaders coming to the program in support of the youth initiative. While mentioning that sports is not only for playing, the chief guest stated that sports is a big industry, a profession and a career, urging all to participate in sports to develop.

With the initiative of the youth and student leaders, the MLA stated that Senapati has seen much improvement in the field of sports especially in football. In the hills of Manipur, the MLA stated that Senapati has the highest number of football turf installed by private groups with 12 5-a-side and 7-a-side football turfs and 2 11-a-side football turf in Senapati district. Even some churches were stated to have started opening sports ministry to give opportunity to the youth, to engage the youth in sports and come closer to God. With all such developments, the MLA expressed hope that the district will develop in near future.

The Astro Turf ground at Senapati was stated to be the only Astro Turf ground constructed by the Govt under NEC by Moses Chalai, IAS who served as the Secretary of the NEC giving opportunity to the youth. The MLA expressed gladness to have witnessed the All India Football Federation tournaments to have played in Senapati turf grounds with Under-14 and Under-16 concluded while Under-18 is ongoing where renowned football teams came and played including Shillong Lajong FC and North East United FC. The MLA lauded the Kuki brothers for their good performance in football. 

Officials from the Naga Students Federation, All Naga Students Association, Manipur, Senapati District Students Association and its federating units, Southern Angami Sports Association and others attended the programme.
