Two Arrested With Suspected Brown Sugar in Churachandpur

Churachandpur, August 31: A joint operation by Singngat Police and the 36 Assam Rifles led to the arrest of two men and the seizure of suspected brown sugar in Churachandpur district on Sunday, officials said.

Acting on a tip, the police team, supervised by the Sub-Divisional Police Officer of Churachandpur, arrested Paokholal, 53, of Lhanghoi Veng, and Kamkholal, also known as Lalpu, 43, of Joljam village. Based on information obtained during interrogation, the authorities recovered 24 soap cases of suspected brown sugar, according to a police statement.

Per Police, the contraband was seized in the presence of the Executive Member of Singngat Sub-Division.

An FIR no. 06(08)2025 SGT-PS was registered under Sections 21(C), 60(3), and 29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, police said.
