Two dead in road mishap in Ukhrul

At least two persons died in a road accident after a Shaktiman truck fell off a steep roadside in between Phangrei and Jorcheng tourist spot along Ukhrul-Jessami route, about 25 km off Ukhrul town on Thursday evening.

Sources said the two deceased were identified as M Layik and R Mayonmi from Chingai village. The two reportedly died on the spot, while three other persons including a minor boy, were grievously injured.

Of the three, two have been admitted to a private hospital in Ukhrul town, while the boy was rushed to Imphal in a critical condition, sources said.

The truck was said to be heading towards Chingai village when the accident occured around 3:30 pm.
