Imphal, September 1: Two hand grenades were spotted near Bal Vidya Mandir at Palace Compound area in Imphal, barely 50 metres from Rajya Sabha MP Sanajaoba Leishemba’s residence and the Shree Shree Govindajee temple.
The bombs, identified as high-explosive grenades, were found around 9:30 am by CRPF’s B/66 Battalion during a routine patrol. They were lying outside the school’s main gate, officials said.

Police have registered a case at Porompat station. No militant group has claimed responsibility yet.
“This is a serious breach, considering the location,” a senior officer said. “The motive is unknown, but the investigation is on.”
The discovery has raised fresh security concerns in the state capital, especially given the proximity to the MP’s residence and one of Manipur’s most revered temples.
