Two nabbed with 3.564 kg of brown sugar in Manipur

Imphal: Police in Manipur’s Kakching district have arrested two alleged drug peddlers and seized 3.564 kg of brown sugar on Wednesday night, police said on Thursday.

The alleged drug paddlers have been identified as Ngamkholal Guite (40) of Churachandpur  district and Mangmuanlian Hangluah (46)  of the same district.

They were arrested by a team of Sugunu police station on frisking and checking duty at its temporary check post at Teikot village last night, around 8.30 pm, police also said.

The police conducted the frisking and checking acting on specific information that some people will attempt to transport contraband goods using motorcycles on the Singngat – Suankuang road.

While the frisking and checking was in progress, the two persons who came on two Kenbo bikes (Myanmar origin bike) were intercepted and detained for checking two sacks they carried with, police further said.

Upon checking, the sacks were found containing 297 soap cases containing brown sugar. It weighed 3.564 kg, police added.
