Two women drug peddlers held with 259 gm of brown sugar

Two women drug peddlers were arrested with 259 gram of brown sugar, said Manipur police on Thursday.

The arrested alleged drug peddlers were identified as Ng Toroni and Shangshang. Both are from Mitong village of Chandel district, police said. They were arrested last night around 9.20 pm by a team of police commandos attached with Kakching district police on frisking and checking duty at Chandel Lamkhai.

The arrested persons along with the seized articles were handed over to Kakching police station for taking further necessary legal action where a case was registered for further investigation.

Meanwhile, in the ongoing drive for destruction of illegal poppy plantation in the state, a combined team of Tengnoupal district police, NAB, district administration, Horticulture department and Forest department today destroyed poppy plants found cultivated to around 35 acres at Phalbung hill range under Tengnoupal police station. 

An FIR regarding the destruction has been taken up at Tengnoupal police station.
