UHSS Annual Literary cum Sports Meet Begins in Ukhrul

Ukhrul: The annual Literary cum Sports meet of Ukhrul Higher Secondary School (UHSS) has started on Tuesday.

Col. Manoj Shinde, Commandant of 35 Assam Rifles, Somsai attended the inaugural programme as chief guest, hoisting the flag as he marked the beginning of the annual Literary cum Sports meet 2023 of UHSS.

Addressing the gathering of the students and teachers, Col. Manoj said the students were motivated to explore the synergy between the world of literature and the world of sports. The students  were inspired to write their own story of success and greatness, whether on the page or on the field. Col. Manoj also shared his thoughts to the students to explore a career in Armed Forces, as the profession gives an opportunity for intellectual growth and sports too.

While A.S. Josiah, Principal of Ukhrul Higher Secondary School pronounced the welcome speech, Sports Secretary of  UHSS Student’s Union, Miss Chanpei Khayi delivered the word of thanks.

A total of 14 contingent including NCC took part in the march past.

Competitions items in the Sports category include football, volleyball, tug of war, race, long jump, high jump, carrom and chess. In the Literary category, competitions items include debate, extempore speech, quiz, recitation, solo and duet singing, handwriting and spelling bee.

The annual literary cum sports meet 2023 will conclude on October 20.
