Ukhrul Assam Rifles inaugurated locality solar lamps

Ukhrul: The DIG of 10 sector Assam Rifles Ukhrul, Brigadier Vaibhav Shinde, inaugurated 10 much-needed solar lamps in Wino Bazaar locality of Ukhrul Headquarters on Friday, November 4. The Solar street lamps were installed in different areas of Wino Bazaar under the leadership of Michael Shaiza, the chairman of the locality.

Speaking on the occasion, Michael Shaiza, thanked the Assam Rifles and Brigadier Shinde for the unprecedented gesture of kindness towards the people of Ukhrul town.

“True to the motto, the Assam Rifles are truly friends of the Northeast people,” he said.

In the past, Brigadier Shindeji had also donated portable solar lamps and mentioned more projects like Community Halls and water reservoirs to come in the future. Shinde was greeted with much gusto by the locality elders and presented with traditional souvenirs during the occasion.

“Solar lamps are a blessing for the locality as Ukhrul town still does not have consistent power supply, and at times citizens have to endure weeks in the darkness,” said one locality elder.
