As widely celebrated across the Naga inhabited areas, the sixth Indo-Naga Framework Agreement anniversary was observed here today at Ukhrul headquarters.

Representatives from the district civil society organisations attended the event being organised by Tangkhul Naga Long at its Assembly Hall.

Former Director of Tangkhul Theological Association Dr. YL Mingthing who attended the event as chief guest hoisted the Naga national flag in the presence of civil society leaders.

Speaking at the occasion, the former TTA Director said that there has been an inordinate delay in resolving the decades long Naga political imbroglio even though the much hailed Framework Agreement has completed six years.

“It is not an occasion of celebration but one of disappointment,”he said, referring specifically to inconclusive Framework Agreement which is yet to see the light of the day.

As part of the program, Rev. Remember Rimai pastor of UBC Ukhrul led a special prayer on Indo-Naga peace talk, while Esau Makang and friends presented a special number.

Tangkhul Naga Long president Hopingson A. Shimray moderated the event while Tangkhul Naga Wungnao Long president SA. Ramnganing delivered the word of thanks.

The historic FA was signed between Government of India and NSCN-IM on 3 August 2015 in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Ajit Doval and the outfit collective leadership in New Delhi.
