Ukhrul commemorates 75th Naga Independence Day

Tangkhul Naga Long and Tangkhul Katamnao Saklong observed the 75th Naga Independence Day in their respective offices today morning by hoisting Naga National Flag.

The Tangkhul Naga Wungnao Long (Chief Association) also celebrated the 75th Naga Independence Day at its Wino bazaar office.

The program was first taken up at TKS Administrative block in the presence of Jordan Pheirei, former president TKS, Students of Alice Christian Hr Sec. School and St Joseph College Ukhrul, TMNL, ZKL, ZTKL, NSF, THYSO and TKS executive members.

Speaking at the occasion, Jordan Pheirei who hoisted the Naga National flag said, “We cannot shy away from our responsibilities being a responsible citizen for the cause of the Nagas.”

Shimri Raising, TKS president, concluded the program with vote of thanks. “Brethrens, let us not forget the fight is on, the choice is ours. United we stand, divided we fall. It is our time, it is our movement, and it is our cause that our frontiers have been struggling for. We have to carry forward with might, with courage and with united spirit. Let us always stand in unity,” exclaimed Raising. He further acknowledged the students for making the event a grand success and requested the public’s support and co-operation in the days to come. “The Saklong is yours, the Saklong is ours”, he added.

Further, the flag hoisting program was collectively observed in TNL Assembly hall joined by Vakham Zimik, Ex-president TNL and CSOs. The program was graced by Rev. Dr Mathotmi Vasha.

Chief Guest, Vakham Zimik, unfurled the Naga National flag and shared a brief history of Naga and expressed his desire for a joined people’s movement to further strengthen the collective voice of the Nagas.

The program concluded with a word of thanks by Hopingson A. Shimray, President TNL followed by lunch.
