Tribal CSOs Consultative Meeting in Ukhrul Endorse Boycott Movement against Manipur State Govt

A consultative meeting held in Ukhrul district headquarters with CSOs have resolved and adopted three declaration which has been made available in public domain. It discussed the Hill Areas Committee recommended Manipur (Hill Areas) Autonomous District Council Bill 2021.

The consultative meeting was joined by All Tribal Students’ Union Manipur (ATSUM), All Naga Students’ Association Manipur (ANSAM), Kuki Students’ Organization-GHQ, Kuki Students’ Organization Ukhrul, (KSO) Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL), Tangkhul Shanao Long (TSL), Tangkhul Naga Wungnao Long (TNWL), Tangkhul Mayar Ngala Long (TMNL), and Tangkhul Katamnao Saklong (TKS).

The three declaration of today are:

  1. The Manipur state government should convene a special session of Manipur Legislative Assembly to table the HAC recommended ADC Bill 2021.
  2. The reason of the withdrawal of the Manipur Legislative Assembly Speaker’s order is declared unacceptable as it is not based on the ‘Rules of Procedures and Conduct of Business’ in the Manipur Legislative Assembly read with Article 371 C.
  3. The decision of ATSUM to boycott the state government program Go To Hills 2.0 is endorsed and the boycott movement will continue until the HAC recommended ADC Bill 2021 is tabled, and the speaker’s order is withdrawn with the appropriate reason.
