Ukhrul: Krishna Kumar, IAS Deputy Commissioner of Ukhrul District, visited the victim’s families at Poi Village.
Two women were swept away by swift current on October 24 while crossing the river of their paddy field at Poi Village.
According to DIPR press release on Sunday, Ukhrul DC visited Poi village with relief materials of essential commodities like rice, oil, dal etc. He also consoled the two victims’ families and assured every possible help the district administration would give in tracing the victim’s body. Furthermore he said that any further grievances of the family members would be met.

The incident happened when the two women went to their paddy field on the fateful day. As it rained the whole day in the area due to the cyclone, the water level of the river had risen by the time they had to return home. While attempting to cross, the swift current of the river swept both the women.
Smt late RS Ngamreila’s body was found at Tusom river after an intensive search carried out by the Disaster Management of Manipur in collaboration with the Ukhrul District Police, the local and nearby villages volunteers on October 27. However, the body of the other victim, Smt RS Ramreila is yet to be traced.
